AiVOOV is a text-to-speech service whose API lives under aivoov.com/api/v3 and authenticates with an X-API-KEY header; a missing or wrong key returns a JSON body with status false rather than an HTTP-only error, so error handling has to read the payload and not just the status code. API access is gated by subscription tier, and an account on a lower plan gets a plain "upgrade to a Premier plan to access API" response on the same endpoints that work for a paying account, which is the usual first surprise when a customer connects. The voice list is large and voice identifiers are engine-specific, so a voice id chosen for one engine will not resolve on another and should be validated against the voices endpoint rather than stored as a free-text string. Conversion is credit-metered on characters, so retries and previews consume the same allowance as production renders and are worth counting. fastn stores each customer's AiVOOV key on their own connection, keeps the plan-gating failure visible to them, and maintains the integration as the voice catalogue changes.
