This policy also applies to any other Fastn-operated domains, subdomains, and web-accessible endpoints that link to or reference this Privacy Policy, and to the fastn app for Slack, available via the Slack App Directory.

User: A registered customer or organization using Fastn.
Viewer: A non-registered individual accessing content shared by a Fastn user.

Purpose and Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to information collected online and, in limited cases, offline (e.g., by phone or mail). Fastn collects data from both users and viewers of our Services. When providing services on behalf of customers, we act as a data processor and process information under their direction and privacy policies. In all other cases, Fastn is the data controller.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of our customers or third parties.

How We Collect Data About You

Data Provided by Registered Users

When you create or log into a Fastn account, we collect:

First and last name
Email address
Password

When you install and use the fastn app for Slack, we access Slack data only as authorised by the permissions granted during installation. This may include workspace and user identifiers, display names and email addresses, messages in conversations the app has been added to or that mention the app, and files, canvases or search results you explicitly reference. We access this data solely to carry out the actions you request, and we do not sell it or use it for advertising.

Data Provided by Non-Registered Users

When accessing content shared by a Fastn user, you may be asked to provide:

Email address

This information is collected and stored by Fastn on behalf of the sharing user. Fastn processes it under contractual terms and is not responsible for the privacy practices of the user.

Data Collected Through Automated Means

We collect technical data such as:

Device type
Operating system
IP address

This helps us improve website delivery and analyze traffic. Data may vary depending on device settings.

User-Generated Content

We collect any content voluntarily submitted by users or viewers, including:

Text
Images
Videos

Associated with your Fastn account or access session.

Data from Third-Party Integrations

When connecting cloud services like Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, or Box:

We access metadata and retrieve files as explicitly directed by you.
Files may be stored in Fastn's systems for performance and reliability.
We only access third-party services when authorized by you and solely to fulfill your request.

We do not use this data beyond fulfilling the requested service.

While we follow industry best practices, no system is 100% secure. You are encouraged to protect your login credentials.

Use of AI and Machine Learning

We may use AI models (e.g., LLMs) to automate certain workflows. We do not use personal data to train public or general-purpose AI/ML models.

Where Slack's own AI features are used to interpret requests, that processing is carried out by Slack under Slack's terms and privacy policy. We do not use Slack content to train fastn's or any third-party AI or ML models.

Use of Google Workspace APIs

Our use and transfer of information from Google Workspace APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including Limited Use restrictions.

We do not retain, use, or share data from Google Workspace APIs to develop, improve, or train generalized AI or ML models.

Your Rights Under CCPA (California Residents)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

Know what personal information we collect
Request deletion of your data
Opt out of the "sale" of data (we do not sell, but some partners may use tracking tech considered a "sale" under CCPA)
Be treated equally regardless of privacy choices

We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If we discover such data, it will be deleted. We do not market to or knowingly collect data from children.

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via email or platform notifications.
