It started with a frustration we kept running into. Every business runs on a few systems of record: a CRM like Salesforce or HubSpot, an ERP like NetSuite or SAP, Workday for HR, ServiceNow or Zendesk for support. Software was being composed around them, piece by piece, and each piece worked well on its own. The value was in making them work together, integrating each one and orchestrating how data and actions move between them, and that assembly fell to the same engineers who should have been building the product.

AI agents raised the stakes. An agent is composed the same way software is, and it is only as useful as the apps it can reach: it has to read the account in the CRM, check the order in the ERP and open the ticket in the support desk, with the right permissions, for every customer. Where a product once needed a handful of integrations, its agents need every app their customers run, and they need each one to work every time.

We founded fastn to simplify, and fasten, that assembly. Building the first integrations taught us where the work really is. The API call is the easy part. The hard part is that every customer runs the same apps their own way, and that integrations break months after launch, when an API moves or a credential expires.

So we stopped treating integration as an engineering project. In fastn it is configuration: customers shape each integration inside the product they already use, and fastn's agents build what's missing and repair what breaks. The same integration serves the product, its customers and its AI agents.

Every app a business runs, old or new, should be reachable and safe to act on, by its products and by its agents. We want embedded integration to become the default answer, the way a company today reaches for a payments provider instead of building payments.
